Working in Silver Spring
Silver Spring isn't a city. It's a big unincorporated part of Montgomery County, from the high-rises downtown out to neighborhoods like Woodside Park, Indian Spring and Woodmoor. It's about 35 minutes from my base in Germantown.
North of downtown, in the 20901 ZIP, almost six in ten homes were built before 1960, about half of them in the 1940s and '50s. Houses that age have doors that have shifted, windows that need new weatherstripping, wall cracks and worn trim. I fix those, and when a bathroom needs it, I swap faucets, toilets and sinks like for like.
Downtown is different. Most homes in the 20910 ZIP are apartments and condos, and about two in three households rent. For condo owners, and for renters with the landlord's OK, I mount TVs and shelves, patch walls and paint.

Yes. Doors that stick, worn trim, wall cracks, loose stair rails and tired bathroom faucets are all things I fix. Send me photos and I'll tell you what I'd do.
