North Potomac is about 25 subdivisions, most of them built since 1983, set among old farmland, woods and the Muddy Branch stream valley. Darnestown Road runs along its northern edge, and Dufief Mill and Quince Orchard roads run through the middle. The Postal Service only recognized the North Potomac name in 1989.
